What is Intentional Fatherhood?

Fatherhood is anything but simple. It lives at the intersection of many roles — husband, disciple of Jesus, provider, embodied soul, and more. The weight of these responsibilities (and the expectations that come with them) can feel overwhelming.

That’s why we’re here: to offer a clear biblical framework and practical habits to help you live with clarity, purpose, and intention in every aspect of your calling as a father.

Season one of The Intentional Fatherhood Podcast is built around eight core tensions we feel in fatherhood. Each episode zooms in on one of those tensions, offering insight, encouragement, and doable habits you can put into practice right away.

What is

All About?

“But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve… But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

JOSHUA 24:15

Joshua 24:15 isn’t just a strong verse, it’s a formation moment. As Joshua nears the end of his life, he gathers the people and says, “Choose this day whom you will serve… As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” He’s not just making a personal choice. He’s leading his family.

That’s what Intentional Fatherhood is. It’s not about being perfect. It’s about taking spiritual responsibility for the atmosphere of your home. Joshua reminds us that formation doesn’t just happen. It’s built through small, daily habits, like prayer, honesty, Scripture, repentance, and presence. It’s formed in what we normalize and repeat.

And then he names the past, “Your ancestors worshiped other gods…” In other words, this family came from broken patterns. But God stepped in. And Joshua says, “This is where it changes.”

That’s what’s possible for us. You might come from generations of pain, addiction, passivity, or anger. But when a father chooses to serve the Lord — when he chooses faithfulness today — it has the power to break cycles and start a new legacy.

Joshua 24:15 is a call to lead your family on the path of following Jesus. It’s where spiritual formation begins, at home, with you.
